From Page to Screen

Every time I finish a short story, chapter or screenplay, I see the scenes unfolding like a movie. The dialogue sharpens, the camera zooms in, and I imagine what the soundtrack would sound like. That's when the screen writer in me takes over.
Writing prose and writing for film are cousins, not twins. On the page, I can linger inside the character's mind for as long as I want. In a screenplay,I have to show that same emotion with a gesture, a pause, or even silence. It forces me to think about storytelling in layers, from the perspective of the of the audience.
I've been working on my 3 book novel series for some time and have been writing poetry since I was a child, but writing screenplays is something I have just begun to open my world to, and I have to say, it's been far more challenging than I expected.
My long-term goal is to bring my stories to life as a film producer. I don't just want to write scripts and hand them over, I want to have a say in how they're shaped, cast, and ultimately presented to the world. That's why I'm building this blog into my portfolio. It's not just a place for reflection, it's proof that I'm serious about making the leap from words on page to images on screen.
If you're a writer like me, I invite you to walk this path alongside me, because the truth is, every story we tell is a rehearsal for the bigger stage we're preparing for.
