The Good and the Evil
Written by Anna Chapel
Like many of you, I have read "Ancestry," and I have followed Mara Bell and her family as they unravel the roots of their family's story. However, unlike most of you, I am connected to the story, far more than I'm comfortable with. In case you haven't figured it out, I am the descendant of the "evil spirit" mentioned in the story. But through my research, there is always more than one side of a story.
The story gives the Bell family a monster, and everyone accepts her as one. No-one cares to think about who she was before the veil. Nobody asks what kind of pain turns a woman into something so dark that she seeks to devour souls that dare to cross her path.
So I did.
Before I knew that I was a part of her bloodline, I felt connected to her in ways I couldn't explain. I heard tales as a little girl of my great-great aunt who went mad, but once I found out the reason for her madness, I discovered my connection to the Bell family.
Perhaps it doesn't matter to you. Maybe you believe that evil is simply...evil. But when I found out what brought that woman to Lane Road, it hit me so deep within my heart, I couldn't ignore it.
Hopefully, once I reveal her dread, you will see that there are two sides, not just evil.
